Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government is working rapidly to develop Uttarakhand as a world-class wedding destination by promoting wedding tourism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Wed in India’ vision.
Addressing the ‘Grace Hindustan 2.0 Uttarakhand’ National Wedding Professionals Conference organised by the International Convention of Event Industries (ICEI) at Punarva Wellness Resort, Kimadi, on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road, the Chief Minister said that wedding tourism will provide a major boost to the state’s local economy, employment opportunities, and tourism sector.

CM Dhami welcomed wedding planners, event experts, tourism entrepreneurs, and investors from across the country to Uttarakhand and said that the two-day conference will provide a valuable platform for discussions on the future of tourism and wedding industries in the state.
He said that Uttarakhand’s:

- Spiritual heritage.
- Cultural traditions.
- Peaceful environment.
make it one of the most suitable destinations for weddings.
The Chief Minister highlighted that marriage in Indian culture is not just a social event but a sacred union of two souls, and Uttarakhand’s spiritual atmosphere makes such occasions more divine and memorable.

Trijuginarayan, Mussoorie and Other Places Being Developed as Wedding Hubs
CM Dhami said that several important locations in Uttarakhand are being developed as world-class destination wedding centres.
These include:
- Trijuginarayan – known as the divine wedding place of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
- Omkareshwar (Ukhimath).
- Tehri.
- Mussoorie.
- Ramnagar.
He said that destination weddings will not only benefit hotels and resorts but will also create employment opportunities for:
- Local artisans.
- Folk artists.
- Homestay operators.
- Taxi drivers.
- Small business owners.
The government views wedding tourism as an important tool for strengthening the local economy and promoting self-employment.
Government Promoting Wedding, Spiritual and Wellness Tourism Together
The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is a unique combination of nature, culture, spirituality, and wellness, and the government is working to develop multiple tourism sectors.
He said that along with wedding tourism, special focus is being given to:
- Spiritual tourism.
- Wellness tourism.
- Eco-tourism.
CM Dhami highlighted that Punarva Wellness Resort is an example of combining Ayurveda, yoga, natural therapy, and modern facilities to provide world-class wellness experiences.
Major Spiritual Tourism Projects Underway in Uttarakhand
CM Dhami said that the state government is working on several spiritual and cultural projects to strengthen tourism.

- Development of Kedarkhand and Manaskhand temple regions.
- Haridwar-Rishikesh Corridor.
- Vivekananda Corridor.
- Golju Corridor.
- Yamuna Corridor.
- Sharda Corridor.
He also mentioned the beginning of winter pilgrimage tourism to promote year-round tourism in the state.
The government is also working towards establishing Spiritual Economic Zones in both Garhwal and Kumaon regions to promote yoga, Ayurveda, natural healing, and spiritual tourism.
Better Connectivity and Investor-Friendly Policies Driving Tourism Growth
CM Dhami said that Uttarakhand is becoming a preferred investment destination due to:
- Better law and order.
- Good governance.
- Investor-friendly policies.
- Improved connectivity infrastructure.
He highlighted the government’s focus on Triple R connectivity — Road, Rail and Ropeway to improve tourist access.
Key infrastructure projects include:
- Char Dham All Weather Road Project.
- Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Project.
- Ropeway projects across the state.
- Expansion of Jolly Grant and Pantnagar airports.
- Development of heliports in all districts.
These projects are expected to provide easier connectivity and further strengthen tourism growth.
CM Invites Wedding Industry Experts and Investors to Partner with Uttarakhand
The Chief Minister invited wedding planners, event professionals, and investors from across India to participate in Uttarakhand’s tourism development.
He said that the government is committed to implementing Ease of Doing Business effectively and providing support through the single-window clearance system for investors, wedding planners, and event organisers.
CM Dhami expressed confidence that collective efforts from the government, tourism industry, and investors will help establish Uttarakhand among the world’s leading wedding destinations.
Experts and Industry Leaders Attend Wedding Conference
The conference was attended by officials of the International Convention of Event Industries (ICEI), Acharya Ashish Semwal, founder of Punarva Wellness Resort, wedding planners, event professionals, tourism experts, entrepreneurs, investors, and other dignitaries from across the country.
