Betul: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has unveiled an ambitious plan to develop Kukru Hill Station in Betul district as a major eco-tourism destination, focusing on sustainable development, livelihood generation, and natural heritage conservation.
The Chief Minister announced a ₹150 crore integrated tourism circuit connecting Kukru, Chikhaldara, Muktagiri, and Melghat, aimed at transforming the region into a leading tourism hub in central India.
₹150 Crore Integrated Eco-Tourism Circuit Announced
The proposed tourism circuit will link key scenic and ecological destinations to boost tourism infrastructure and visitor experience.
Key highlights of the project include:
- Development of Kukru, Chikhaldara, Muktagiri, and Melghat circuit
- Promotion of eco-tourism and adventure tourism activities
- Creation of sunrise and sunset viewpoints
- Development of trekking and outdoor sports infrastructure
- Strengthening basic tourism facilities in the region
The government said the project will significantly enhance regional tourism potential while preserving natural ecosystems.
‘Kukru Natural’ Brand to Promote Local Products
To support local livelihoods, the government will establish units under the “Kukru Natural” brand with the involvement of self-help groups and the Forest Department.
These units will focus on processing and marketing of:
- Coffee (Robusta and Arabica)
- Kodo-Kutki millets
- Amla, Harra, Baheda
- Honey and medicinal herbs
- White musli and Bhilawa
- Dairy products like ghee, curd, and mawa
The initiative aims to strengthen rural entrepreneurship and value addition of forest produce.
Coffee Cultivation and Processing Project Worth ₹10 Crore
A separate ₹10 crore project will be launched with technical support from the Coffee Board to promote coffee cultivation and processing in the region.
The initiative will support:
- Robusta and Arabica coffee farming
- Processing and value addition infrastructure
- Farmer training and technical guidance
Officials said this will open new income opportunities for farmers and tribal communities.
Focus on Tribal Livelihoods, Homestays, and Skill Development
To empower local tribal communities, the government will develop homestay facilities managed through tourism department systems.
Additional initiatives include:
- Homestay development for local residents
- Tourism and hospitality training for youth
- Driving and service skill development programs
- Livestock improvement and cattle shed construction
These efforts are expected to generate employment and promote rural entrepreneurship.
Infrastructure and Water Conservation Projects
CM Mohan Yadav also announced several infrastructure and welfare projects for the region, including:
- Road and bridge construction
- Hostels and wellness centers
- Fair price shops
- ₹5 crore water conservation ponds
- Improved livestock facilities and breed development
The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare a comprehensive development plan integrating tourism, environment, and infrastructure needs.
Yoga Session and Public Health Awareness
During his visit, the Chief Minister began the day with a yoga session at the rest house premises, performing several asanas including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana, and Shalabhasana.
He also practiced pranayama techniques and urged citizens to adopt yoga as part of their daily lifestyle for better health and wellness.
Pulse Polio Campaign Launched from Kukru
CM Mohan Yadav also launched the Pulse Polio campaign from Kukru by administering polio drops to children, emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare and immunization.
The development plan for Kukru Hill Station reflects Madhya Pradesh’s focus on eco-tourism, rural livelihood enhancement, and sustainable development. The ₹150 crore integrated circuit, combined with local entrepreneurship initiatives and infrastructure development, is expected to transform the region into a major tourism and economic hub.
