The new Delegation of Financial Powers (DFP-2026) gives greater financial authority within the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), helping faster development of advanced defence technologies, weapon systems, and indigenous innovations. The announcement was made on June 29, 2026, through the Ministry of Defence.

While releasing DFP-2026, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the new framework will help speed up the production and induction of defence systems and technologies developed by DRDO.
He also stated that stronger cooperation with industry and academic institutions will support the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and make India more self-reliant in defence technology while strengthening national defence preparedness.
