Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that public participation in the health sector has made the state a national leader in healthcare outcomes. He made these remarks while addressing a state-level programme at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management in Bhopal, where several major health initiatives were launched.
The Chief Minister emphasized that community-driven healthcare models, including the newly launched “Suman Panchayat” initiative, will further strengthen maternal and child health services across the state.
Launch of ‘Suman Panchayat’ Initiative for Community Health
CM Mohan Yadav formally launched the innovative “Suman Panchayat” (Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan Panchayat) scheme aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes through active village-level participation.
Under the scheme, panchayats will be encouraged to ensure:
- Zero maternal deaths
- No deaths of children under five years
- Elimination of measles and rubella cases
Panchayats achieving these targets will receive ₹1 lakh incentive along with certificates of appreciation.
The initiative aims to promote institutional deliveries, timely vaccinations, nutrition awareness, and early identification of high-risk pregnancies.
Pulse Polio Campaign and Child Immunization Drive
The Chief Minister also launched the national Pulse Polio campaign, symbolically administering drops to children to mark the beginning of the drive.
As part of the campaign:
- 1.07 crore children under five years will receive polio drops
- 83,000 vaccination booths have been set up
- 1.66 lakh vaccinators and 26,000 supervisors deployed
- Door-to-door vaccination will continue on June 29 and 30
Special mobile teams and transit booths have been deployed at railway stations, bus stands, and airports to ensure full coverage.
AMR 2.0 Action Plan Launched to Combat Antibiotic Resistance
The Chief Minister also launched the State Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Action Plan 2.0, aimed at addressing the growing challenge of antibiotic resistance.
Key focus areas include:
- Rational use of antibiotics
- Infection control measures
- Laboratory strengthening
- Research and surveillance
- “One Health” multi-sector coordination
The plan aligns with the National Action Plan on AMR and aims to ensure better public health outcomes through responsible medicine use.
Recognition for Health Achievements Across Districts
The state government also honoured districts for their performance in health programmes.
HPV Vaccination Achievements:
- 8.03 lakh girls targeted
- 7.64 lakh vaccinated (around 96% coverage)
- Madhya Pradesh ranked among top-performing states
Healthy Liver Mission Achievements:
- Balaghat ranked 1st
- Chhindwara ranked 2nd
- Shajapur ranked 3rd
Under the mission, more than 1.49 crore people have been screened for liver-related diseases.
Major Health Progress in Madhya Pradesh
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla highlighted that the state has made significant progress in healthcare, including:
- Large-scale HPV vaccination within two months
- Extensive liver disease screening across the state
- Improved maternal and child health indicators
- Focus on early disease detection and prevention
He added that health reforms are being effectively implemented on the ground.
Focus on Women and Child Health Through Community Participation
Health Minister Narendra Shivaji Patel said that initiatives like Suman Panchayat and large-scale screening campaigns are helping identify lifestyle-related diseases early and improve community awareness.
The government emphasized that public participation is key to improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.
The launch of Suman Panchayat, AMR 2.0 Action Plan, and the expanded Pulse Polio campaign reflects Madhya Pradesh’s strong focus on preventive healthcare, community participation, and large-scale health system strengthening.
Officials said these initiatives will further improve maternal and child health outcomes while promoting a healthier and more aware society.
