Karnataka Govt Transfers 15 IPS Officers: Devajyoti Ray Gets ADGP, Crimes & Technical Services

With major changes to senior police postings across commissionerates and districts, Harishekaran has been appointed to Civil Rights Enforcement, while Bhushan Borase takes charge as Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has ordered a major reshuffle of the state police department, transferring 15 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and assigning them new responsibilities across senior police establishments, commissionerates and districts.

The reshuffle involves officers from the 1996 to 2020 batches and includes several changes at the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) levels.

Among the key changes, P. Harishekaran, IPS (1996), has been transferred from Crimes and Technical Services and posted as ADGP, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement. M. Nanjundaswami, IPS (1997), has been moved to ADGP, Grievances & Human Rights, while Devajyoti Ray, IPS (1999), will take charge as ADGP, Crimes and Technical Services.

Harishekaran Gets Civil Rights Enforcement Charge

P. Harishekaran, IPS (KN:1996), who was serving as Additional Director General of Police, Crimes and Technical Services, Bengaluru, has been transferred and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement.

The move is among the prominent senior-level changes in the latest Karnataka police reshuffle.

Nanjundaswami, Devajyoti Ray Get New Roles

M. Nanjundaswami, IPS (KN:1997), who was serving as Additional Director General of Police and Additional Director General, Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services and SDRF, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Grievances & Human Rights.

Meanwhile, Devajyoti Ray, IPS (KN:1999), who was serving as ADGP, Grievances & Human Rights, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Crimes and Technical Services.

The changes effectively swap the responsibilities held by the two senior officers while also bringing Harishekaran into the Civil Rights Enforcement Directorate.

Amit Singh Moved to Karnataka State Reserve Police

Amit Singh, IPS (KN:2007), who was serving as Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Karnataka State Reserve Police, in the upgraded post.

The Western Range will now be headed by R. Chethan, IPS (KN:2010), who was awaiting posting. He has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Mangaluru.

Bhushan Borase Gets Hubballi-Dharwad

A significant commissionerate-level change involves Bhushan Borase Gulabrao, IPS (KN:2009).

Borase, who was serving as Deputy Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi City, has been transferred with immediate effect and posted as DIG and Commissioner of Police, Hubballi-Dharwad, until further orders.

He replaces N. Shashikumar, who has been transferred from the post of Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner without a new posting being assigned in the order.

At Belagavi City, Nikam Prakash Amrit, IPS (KN:2012), who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as DIG and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi City.

Changes in Anti-Narcotics and District Policing

Shiva Prakash Devaraju, IPS (KN:2014), who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as Superintendent of Police, Anti-Narcotic Task Force, against a vacant post.

At the district level, Padmini Sahoo, IPS (KN:2015), has been transferred from her post as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Bengaluru, and appointed as Superintendent of Police, Chikkaballapur District.

Her move has resulted in another change involving Kushal Chouksey, IPS (KN:2018). Chouksey, who was serving as SP, Chikkaballapur District, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Bengaluru.

Srinivasa Gowda Shifted to CCB-1

R. Srinivasa Gowda, IPS (KN:2016), has been transferred from his position as Superintendent of Police, Ramanagara, and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, City Crime Branch-1 (CCB-1), Bengaluru.

Dr. Shivakumar, IPS (KN:2016), who was serving as Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (excluding BDA and BMICAPA) Task Force, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Karnataka Lokayukta.

More District-Level Changes

The latest reshuffle also brings changes in several district police establishments.

Sahil Bagla, IPS (KN:2018), who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic East Division, Bengaluru City, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Koppal.

Rohan Jagadeesh, IPS (KN:2019), has been transferred from his position as Superintendent of Police, Gadag, and posted as Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru South District (Ramanagara).

His transfer has paved the way for H.N. Mithun, IPS (KN:2020), who was serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law & Order, Mangaluru City, to take charge as Superintendent of Police, Gadag.

Reshuffle Covers Senior, Commissionerate and District Posts

The latest order represents a broad restructuring of the Karnataka police establishment, covering senior-level police directorates as well as commissionerates and field formations.

The changes bring fresh leadership to Civil Rights Enforcement, Grievances & Human Rights, Crimes and Technical Services, Karnataka State Reserve Police, Western Range, Belagavi City and Hubballi-Dharwad, besides several district police units.

The reshuffle also gives new assignments to a number of officers who had been awaiting posting, including R. Chethan, Nikam Prakash Amrit and Shiva Prakash Devaraju, while creating new responsibilities for officers already serving in Bengaluru and other parts of the state.
