Raipur: In a proud moment for Chhattisgarh, Akanksha Satyavanshi, the physiotherapist of the World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team, met Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the CM residence in Raipur today. Born and raised in the state, Akanksha credited her achievements to the support, education, and values she received in Chhattisgarh, calling the state both her birthplace and workplace.

CM Vishnu Deo Sai Congratulates Akanksha

During the meeting, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated Akanksha for her contribution to the historic World Cup victory, calling it a moment of pride for the entire state. “The participation of a daughter from Chhattisgarh in the women’s cricket World Cup has made every citizen feel like part of this triumph,” he said. The Chief Minister presented her with a medal and a memento in recognition of her exemplary contribution.

He further praised her achievement as a source of inspiration for generations of young women, emphasizing that the state government is committed to expanding opportunities in sports, education, and skill development to nurture talent from Chhattisgarh at national and international levels.

Government Support for Sports and Athletes

Chief Minister Sai announced plans to revive the State Sports Awards and provide special incentive grants for athletes representing India or winning medals in international events, including the Olympics. He also highlighted initiatives like the “Bastar Olympics,” which aim to uncover hidden sporting talent from remote tribal areas. “Our goal is to provide international-level sports facilities to our athletes, and concrete steps are being taken in this direction,” the Chief Minister said.

Akanksha’s Pride in Chhattisgarh

Akanksha expressed her joy and pride, saying, “Winning the World Cup is not just the Indian women’s team’s triumph—it’s an honor for Chhattisgarh too. I’m proud to have contributed to this victory as a representative of my state.” She detailed her role as a physiotherapist, responsible for maintaining the team’s physical and mental fitness, and emphasized her pride in supporting the players throughout the tournament.

Reflecting on her journey, she added, “If your goal is sincere and your efforts honest, nothing can stop you from moving ahead. Perseverance and self-belief are the keys to success.”

During the meeting, Akanksha also presented the Chief Minister with an Indian team jersey and shared memorable experiences from the World Cup campaign.

Fitness, Discipline, and Sports Science

Akanksha engaged with the Chief Minister on topics of player fitness, sports medicine, and energy management. She referred to the Indian women’s team’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that his advice inspires athletes to integrate fitness and discipline into daily life.

When asked about his own fitness routine, Chief Minister Sai attributed his health and energy to a balanced diet, yoga, and disciplined lifestyle, echoing the Prime Minister’s example.

Career Journey and Achievements

Born in Durg, with her family now residing in Raipur and ancestral roots in Kawardha, Akanksha completed her schooling and bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy in Chhattisgarh and earned a master’s degree from Cuttack. Her deep interest in sports and physical science guided her professional path.

Starting her career in 2019 with the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association (CSCS), she quickly established herself as a leading physiotherapist. In 2022, she joined the Indian Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team, focusing on fitness management, recovery, mental conditioning, and energy balance—key factors contributing to the team’s World Cup victory.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced an honorarium of ₹10 lakh for her in recognition of her contribution to Indian women’s cricket.

Inspiring Future Generations

Akanksha’s journey from Durg to the global stage symbolizes the spirit of modern Chhattisgarh—grounded in values, disciplined in effort, and confident on international platforms. Her story inspires young athletes, particularly women, to pursue careers in sports and related fields, demonstrating that dedication, hard work, and perseverance can bring global recognition while honoring one’s roots.
