Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has reaffirmed that no youth in the state should be deprived of higher education due to financial constraints, emphasizing that education must be linked not only to degrees but also to skills, employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
He stated that ensuring access to quality higher education for every eligible student remains a top priority of the state government, which is actively working under the framework of the New Education Policy to modernize learning and make it more employment-oriented.
Focus on Skill Development and Industry-Oriented Education
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that the state is integrating modern and emerging disciplines into higher education institutions, including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Machine Learning
- FinTech
- Data Science
- Biotechnology
He further said that agriculture has been introduced as a subject in government colleges, while pilot training courses are being initiated in schools to expand vocational opportunities for students.
According to him, the government is also expanding world-class technical training facilities through the Sant Shiromani Ravidas Global Skill Park, where youth are being trained in advanced technologies.
“Seekho-Kamao Yojana” Connecting Learning with Earning
Dr. Yadav pointed out that schemes like “Seekho-Kamao Yojana” are enabling young people to directly learn from industries while simultaneously earning, bridging the gap between education and employment.
He also noted that several youth in the state are successfully launching startups, reflecting a growing entrepreneurial ecosystem in Madhya Pradesh.
“College Chalo Abhiyan” to Ensure No Student Is Left Behind
The statewide “College Chalo Abhiyan”, launched on May 31, aims to ensure that no meritorious student is deprived of higher education after Class 12 due to lack of awareness or opportunity.
The Chief Minister emphasized that a student’s financial condition should not become a barrier to education. To address this, the government is offering:
- Scholarships
- Fee assistance
- Hostel facilities
- Transport support
- Various welfare schemes
Special focus is being placed on empowering girls and students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Support for Girl Students Through Key Welfare Schemes
The state government’s initiatives such as “Gaon Ki Beti Yojana” and “Pratibha Kiran Yojana” are yielding positive outcomes by encouraging girls to pursue higher education.
Under these schemes:
- Eligible students receive ₹500 per month
- Assistance is provided for 10 months per academic session
- Total support amounts to ₹5,000 per session
These programs aim to strengthen gender equality in education and increase female participation in higher studies.
Flexible Learning Under New Education Policy
Dr. Yadav reiterated that the New Education Policy has made education more flexible and student-centric, allowing students to choose subjects based on their interests and abilities.
He described the “College Chalo Abhiyan” not just as a program, but as a mission to build a developed Madhya Pradesh and an (self-reliant India) through education.
Building a Future-Ready Youth Workforce
The state government is also focusing on:
- Expansion of digital learning infrastructure
- Internship-based education models
- Stronger industry-academia collaboration
- Research and innovation ecosystems
- Academic Bank of Credits system
- Multiple entry and exit options in higher education
Dr. Yadav said these reforms aim to prepare youth for employment, entrepreneurship, leadership, decision-making, and social responsibility.
The Madhya Pradesh government continues to position education as a driver of economic growth and social transformation. Through initiatives like the “College Chalo Abhiyan,” skill development programs, and industry-linked education reforms, the state aims to ensure that every young person has equal access to quality higher education and future opportunities.
