Centre Announces Key Bureaucratic Appointments & Deputation Extensions: Neeraj Surendran, Arun G, Anand Mohan Among Key Names

New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued several important orders on Wednesday, announcing fresh central deputations and tenure extensions of senior bureaucrats across various ministries. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved new postings under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) and also extended ongoing deputations of several officers.

Neeraj Surendran Appointed Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development

Mr Surendran (IDAS:2015) has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, New Delhi. His appointment comes on recommendation from the Department of Defence.

He will serve for a period of four years under the Central Staffing Scheme, effective from the date of taking charge or until further orders.

Kapil Verma Gets Two-Year Extension as Director, Ministry of Petroleum

Mr Verma (IDES:2004), currently serving as Director in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has received a two-year extension in his central deputation.

His new tenure now runs till January 3, 2028, or until further orders.

Initially appointed as Deputy Secretary in November 2020, he took charge in January 2021, and was later re-designated as Director.

Arun G Appointed Deputy Secretary in Agriculture Ministry

Mr Arun (IES:2012) has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, based on a recommendation from the Department of Economic Affairs.

He will serve under the Central Staffing Scheme for four years, or until further orders.

Anand Mohan Appointed JMD (Cooperative & IT), NAFED

Mr Mohan (IRTS:2012) has been appointed as Joint Managing Director (Cooperative & IT) in NAFED, New Delhi.

  • His appointment is under the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare (Non-CSS post).
  • He will serve at the Deputy Secretary level on a four-year deputation basis.

Tiakala Lynda Yaden to Continue as FA&CAO, EPFO

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved an extension of additional charge of Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer (FA&CAO) in EPFO to Ms Yaden (IP&TA&FS:1994).

  • She will hold this post for six more months from August 9, 2025, or until a regular officer is appointed.
  • Ms Yaden is currently serving as Financial Commissioner (Joint Secretary level) in ESIC, Ministry of Labour & Employment.

Sameer Pandey Gets Two-Year Extension in Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti

Mr Pandey (IRS-C&CE:2010) will continue his tenure as Joint Commissioner (Director level) in the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti for an additional two years.

  • His tenure now extends till November 5, 2027.
  • He has been on deputation in the Department of School Education & Literacy.

Rahul Pachori’s Deputation in School Education Extended Till 2028

Mr Pachori (IRSEE:2010), serving as Director in the Department of School Education & Literacy, has also been granted a two-year extension.

  • His deputation will now end on January 14, 2028, or until further orders.
  • Appointed initially as Deputy Secretary in December 2020, he assumed charge on January 14, 2021, and was later re-designated as Director.
  • A one-year extension was previously granted till January 2026, now followed by this additional extension.
