New Delhi: NITI Aayog has appointed Deepak Bagla as the new Mission Director of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), marking a significant step as AIM embarks on an expanded phase of its mandate. Bagla, a seasoned leader with over 30 years of experience in investment promotion, banking, policy advisory, and institutional development, brings a wealth of expertise to the role.
Proven Track Record at Invest India
Before this appointment, Bagla served as Managing Director and CEO of Invest India, the government’s flagship investment promotion agency. Under his leadership, Invest India gained global recognition and played a key role in strengthening India’s position as a preferred destination for investment, supporting entrepreneurship and innovation nationwide.
Global Exposure and Cross-Sectoral Experience
Bagla has also contributed to various high-level government committees and served as President of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), representing India on international platforms. His diverse experience spans the private sector, multilateral institutions, and government, providing him with a unique cross-sectoral perspective.
Academic Credentials and Vision for AIM
An alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, Bagla holds Master’s degrees in International Diplomacy and International Trade & Finance from Georgetown University, USA.
