How Many Rafale Jets Does India Have

India currently operates 36 Rafale fighter jets with the Indian Air Force. In addition, 26 Rafale Marine (Rafale-M) aircraft have been approved for the Indian Navy. If the proposed purchase of 114 new Rafale jets goes ahead, India’s total Rafale fleet could grow to 176 aircraft.

Why Is Rafale Fighter Jet Deal Important

Reports indicate that India has initiated the procurement process through a government-to-government (G2G) framework with France.

The proposal will move through official approval and negotiation stages before a final contract is signed.

India’s Defence Modernisation Continues

The proposed Rafale expansion reflects India’s continued focus on modernising its armed forces. If the deal receives final approval, it will mark a major milestone in strengthening the Indian Air Force and enhancing India’s overall defence preparedness.
