New Delhi: India Rafale fighter jets are set to receive a major boost as the government has finalised a proposal to procure 114 additional Rafale fighter aircraft. The proposed deal is valued at nearly ₹3.25 lakh crore, making it one of India’s biggest-ever defence procurement plans. If approved, India’s total Rafale fleet could increase to 176 aircraft, significantly strengthening the Indian Air Force’s combat capabilities.

Details of 114 Rafale Fighter Jet Deal

According to official information, the proposal for 114 additional Rafale fighter jets has been finalised. The proposal is estimated to be worth around ₹3.25 lakh crore. Once approved by the government and executed, it will become India’s largest Rafale acquisition programme.

How Many Rafale Jets Does India Have

India currently operates 36 Rafale fighter jets with the Indian Air Force. In addition, 26 Rafale Marine (Rafale-M) aircraft have been approved for the Indian Navy. If the proposed purchase of 114 new Rafale jets goes ahead, India’s total Rafale fleet could grow to 176 aircraft.

Why Is Rafale Fighter Jet Deal Important

The Indian Air Force has been working to increase its fighter aircraft strength to meet future operational needs. The additional Rafale jets are expected to improve India’s air combat capability, strengthen national security, and support the country’s long-term defence modernisation programme.

Rafale Fighter Jet Deal: Government-to-Government Process

Reports indicate that India has initiated the procurement process through a government-to-government (G2G) framework with France.

The proposal will move through official approval and negotiation stages before a final contract is signed.

India’s Defence Modernisation Continues

The proposed Rafale expansion reflects India’s continued focus on modernising its armed forces. If the deal receives final approval, it will mark a major milestone in strengthening the Indian Air Force and enhancing India’s overall defence preparedness.
