What Is The Indian Navy Next Generation Missile Vessel Project

The NGMV program is designed to provide the Indian Navy with highly capable missile vessels that can operate effectively in modern maritime environments.

The contract for the construction of six Next Generation Missile Vessels was signed between the Ministry of Defence and Cochin Shipyard Limited in March 2023. The project is part of India’s long-term naval modernization efforts.

Advanced Weapons And Sensors

The upcoming vessels are planned to be equipped with:

The vessels are expected to become an important part of India’s future naval force structure.

Boost To Indigenous Defence Manufacturing

One of the most significant aspects of the project is its indigenous nature. Major systems and components are being developed and manufactured within India, supporting the government’s vision of self-reliance in defence production under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
