Bishkek: Operation Sindoor has once again highlighted India’s strong stand on counter-terrorism. Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that terrorism epicentres are no longer safe from action. He called for global unity to eliminate terrorism, separatism, and extremism. His statement reflects India’s policy of zero tolerance and its push for stronger international cooperation to ensure peace and stability.

Rajnath Singh said that Operation Sindoor proves India’s firm resolve that terrorism will not be tolerated.

He clearly stated that countries supporting or sheltering terrorists must face consequences. He also warned against state-sponsored cross-border terrorism, saying there should be no double standards when it comes to national security.

Call for United Global Action Against Terrorism

The Defence Minister urged SCO member countries to work together as one.

He emphasized:

  • Eliminate safe havens for terrorists
  • Reject political excuses for terrorism
  • Take strong and collective action

He said terrorism is a shared threat and needs a joint global response.

“Terrorism Has No Nationality or Religion”

Rajnath Singh made a powerful statement:

Terrorism has no nationality and no theology

He explained that terrorism should not be linked to any country or religion. Instead, nations must stand united and act firmly against it. He added that consistency in action is important to maintain global credibility.

Role of SCO in Ensuring Global Peace

The minister highlighted that the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) has a key role in maintaining peace.

He said:

  • SCO must act against those who support terrorism
  • It should promote regional and global stability
  • Cooperation and trust among member nations are essential

He also mentioned the importance of the SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) in fighting radicalisation and extremism.

SCO Defence Ministers Meet 2026: Focus on Dialogue, Not Conflict

Rajnath Singh stressed the importance of:

  • Dialogue and diplomacy
  • Peaceful coexistence
  • Compassion over conflict

He warned that the world is becoming divided and inward-looking, and this trend must be reversed.

He called for a global consensus based on respect, equality, and cooperation.

India’s Commitment to Global Stability

India reaffirmed its commitment to:

  • Promote peace and stability
  • Strengthen cooperation within SCO
  • Follow the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (world is one family)

The minister said India will continue to contribute positively to global peace efforts.
