New Delhi: Smt Alka Nangia Arora officially assumed charge as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) on August 1, 2026. A 1991-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), she brings more than three decades of experience in defence finance, public administration and government policy. Her appointment is expected to further strengthen financial management, transparency and accountability within India’s defence sector.

Smt Alka Nangia Arora is an alumnus of Garhwal University, Dehradun and IIT Roorkee. Throughout her career, she has held several important positions in the Government of India across defence, agriculture, MSME and textiles.

- Integrated Financial Adviser to Western Air Command
- Principal Integrated Financial Adviser to Air Headquarters
- Additional and Special CGDA at CGDA Headquarters
