New Delhi: Poland-based defence company WB Group plans to invest around $100 million in India over the next five years to manufacture advanced unmanned systems. The company’s Vice-President, Adam Bartosiewicz, shared the investment plan during an exclusive interview with The Hindu BusinessLine.

The investment will support the company’s plans to establish manufacturing and research facilities in India through its Indian joint venture, WB Electronics India Pvt Ltd.

The company is also exploring locations in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. The proposed investment aims to strengthen India’s defence manufacturing capabilities and provide advanced unmanned systems to the Indian armed forces.

The investment will be used to establish manufacturing and research and development (R&D) facilities in India. The company plans to produce different types of unmanned systems for the Indian armed forces.

Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor Under Consideration

WB Group is exploring possible locations in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor for its proposed manufacturing facilities. The company wants to establish India as an important manufacturing centre for its unmanned systems.

The investment will be carried out through WB Electronics India Pvt Ltd, its Indian joint venture. The proposed facilities could support local manufacturing, research, and the development of advanced defence technologies.

WB Group Drone Used During Operation Sindoor

WB Group’s unmanned systems have already attracted attention because of their reported operational use. According to Bartosiewicz, a WB Group drone was used during Operation Sindoor.

He also said the company’s unmanned platforms have played an important role in Ukraine’s defence against Russia. The company has supported the Ukrainian military since 2014.

Company Focuses On Technology And Quality

WB Group plans to compete in India’s defence market by focusing on technology and product quality.

The company faces competition from Indian defence manufacturers that are developing their own unmanned systems. Bartosiewicz said WB Group does not always offer the cheapest products.

Instead, the company focuses on developing advanced systems and then finding ways to reduce their production costs. He explained that the company’s products use sophisticated engineering, quality components, and experience gained from military operations.

India-Poland Defence Cooperation Gets A Boost

The proposed investment comes as India and Poland are strengthening their economic and defence cooperation. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk visited India from October 21 to October 23, 2026.

During the visit, both countries discussed opportunities to improve cooperation in several areas, including defence manufacturing and technology. WB Group’s proposed investment could support this growing partnership. The company already has a presence in India through WB Electronics India Pvt Ltd.

WB Group Investment Could Support India’s Defence Manufacturing

The proposed investment could create opportunities for local manufacturing and research activities. It may also help Indian companies participate in the defence supply chain.

The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor is one of the locations being considered for the company’s future facilities. However, the final investment details, manufacturing location, and project timeline will depend on further decisions by the company.
