NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 135 crore in the Mehrauli assembly constituency, marking a major step in the Delhi government’s civic infrastructure drive in the historic locality.
Focus on Rejuvenation and Infrastructure Improvement
The projects aim to comprehensively rejuvenate Mehrauli and address long-standing infrastructure needs. CM Gupta emphasized that, for the first time, the Delhi government has ensured no shortage of funds for development works, enabling timely and coordinated implementation across all assembly constituencies.

Scope of Development Projects
The projects include:
- Reconstruction and repair of roads
- Renovation of old ‘chaupals’ and community buildings
- Construction of public toilets
- Beautification of parks
- Installation of swings for children
- Provision of new open gyms
Coordinated Multi-Departmental Implementation
The government has sanctioned over Rs 235 crore for development works in Mehrauli. Various departments including the Public Works Department, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Delhi Jal Board, and DUSIB are implementing these projects in a coordinated manner. CM Gupta stated that this multi-departmental financial support will strengthen local infrastructure and ensure citizens directly benefit from the development.
Officials and Leaders Attend the Inauguration
The inauguration programme was attended by South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and Mehrauli MLA Gajender Yadav, highlighting the government’s commitment to inclusive and participatory urban development.

With upgraded roads, community facilities, and recreational spaces, Mehrauli residents are expected to enjoy improved quality of life, enhanced public amenities, and a modernized infrastructure network that preserves the locality’s historical significance.
