New Delhi: In a significant move to enhance digital convenience for metro commuters, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has partnered with Le Travenues Technology Ltd. (ixigo) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to integrate its QR-based ticketing system into the ixigo Trains app.
With this integration, ixigo users can now book Delhi Metro tickets directly through the app, eliminating the need for physical tokens or standing in queues at ticket counters. The feature supports seamless in-app payments and enables users to generate QR-based tickets instantly for hassle-free entry at metro gates.
To promote the launch, ixigo is offering a 100% cashback on the first metro ride booked through its app.
A Step Toward Smarter, Contactless Commuting
This collaboration is part of DMRC’s broader commitment to digitizing urban mobility and improving the commuter experience. By joining the ONDC ecosystem, DMRC ensures that its digital ticketing service is interoperable across multiple platforms, enabling broader accessibility and scalability.
The integration reduces dependency on traditional ticketing infrastructure and supports a more efficient, contactless, and connected transportation system in the capital.
Driving Public Transport Innovation
DMRC continues to explore innovative digital solutions to make metro travel more accessible and user-friendly. This partnership with ixigo and ONDC reflects a growing shift towards open digital ecosystems, where public services like metro ticketing are accessible across trusted third-party apps.
As Delhi’s public transportation system evolves, such integrations are expected to improve multimodal travel experiences, reduce congestion at stations, and encourage cashless, app-based commuting.
