New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday issued a series of notifications approving re-designation of key census-related posts under the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI), extension of central deputation tenure, and premature repatriation of a senior IPS officer.
Lalit Jain’s Post in Haryana Upgraded to Director Level
The post of Deputy Census Officer/District Census Registrar (DCO/DCR), Haryana, currently held by Lalit Jain, IAS (Himachal Pradesh cadre: 2011), has been re-designated from Deputy Secretary level to Director level.
According to the official order, the upgraded designation of DCO/DCR, Haryana (Director level) will remain valid up to December 6, 2026, corresponding to the admissible three-year tenure, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Mr Jain has been on central deputation since December 7, 2023. The approval follows a proposal submitted by the Office of the Registrar General of India and has been cleared by the competent authority. The re-designation will take effect from the date Jain assumes charge of the re-designated post.
Uttarakhand DCO/DCR Post Also Elevated
In a similar move, the DoPT has approved the re-designation of the post of DCO/DCR, Uttarakhand, from Deputy Secretary level to Director level.
The post is currently held by Iva Ashish Srivastava, IAS (Odisha cadre: 2010), who is serving on central deputation. The upgraded post of DCO/DCR, Uttarakhand (Director level) will be effective from the date she assumes charge.
The approval has been granted up to April 2, 2026, in line with the admissible three-year tenure, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Srivastava has been on central deputation with effect from April 3, 2023. The decision was taken following a proposal from the Office of the RGI and approved by the competent authority.
Central Deputation of Manipur DCO Extended
The DoPT has also approved the extension of central deputation tenure of Th Chitra Devi, IAS (Manipur cadre: 2009), who is serving as Director of Census Operations (DCO)/Director of Citizen Registration (DCR), Manipur.
Her central deputation has been extended up to September 5, 2028. She has been on central deputation since September 5, 2022.
