Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin has finalised the name of Dr C Sylendra Babu as the new Director-General of Police of Tamil Nadu. He is to lead the Tamil Nadu police, one of the largest law enforcement agencies in India.
Succeeding DGP JK Tripathy, Dr C Sylendra Babu will take charge on 1 July, 2021. Mr Tripathy will retire today after completing his two-year tenure as DGP of Tamil Nadu.
In other news, IPS officer Anil Kant has been appointed as the new DGP of Kerala. The 1988 batch officer will replace outgoing Kerala police chief Lokanath Behera. He has been serving as ADGP South zone. The decision to appoint Kant as the DGP was taken in the state Cabinet meeting earlier today.
