Raipur: DSP Kalpana Verma, a senior female police officer in Chhattisgarh, has recently been thrust into the spotlight following allegations by Raipur businessman Deepak Tandon, who claims she lured him into a relationship and extorted over Rs 2.5 crore, along with jewelry, a car, and hotel property. Kalpana Verma is a young officer from the 2016–17 batch of Chhattisgarh Police. She began her career with postings at CSP Mana Police Station and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in Raipur. Over the years, she rose to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and has been posted in multiple locations.
Currently, she serves as DSP in Dantewada, a sensitive Naxal-affected district in Chhattisgarh. Despite her public prominence, little is known about her early life, education, or family background, except for mentions of her brother in the ongoing allegations related to a hotel property.

During the Congress government’s tenure in Chhattisgarh, a photograph circulated showing her engrossed in her phone while senior BJP leaders, including current Home Minister Vijay Sharma, submitted a memorandum regarding a case. Despite being a relatively young officer, she has consistently attracted media attention throughout her postings from Raipur to Dantewada.
Allegations by Deepak Tandon
According to businessman Deepak Tandon, the events unfolded in 2021 when he met Verma through a friend. He claims that over the next three years, she allegedly manipulated him into a relationship and extorted money, valuables, and property. The allegations include:
- Rs 2 crore in cash
- A luxury car
- A diamond ring worth Rs 12 lakh
- Gold jewelry worth Rs 5 lakh
- A bracelet worth Rs 1 lakh
Hotel property allegedly linked to her brother
Tandon also alleges that Verma pressured him to divorce his wife and threatened him using her police authority. WhatsApp chats and other communications have reportedly been presented as evidence in his complaint at Khamardih Police Station, Raipur.

DSP Kalpana Verma has denied all allegations, calling them false and malicious. She stated she is willing to cooperate with any investigation. As of now, investigations are ongoing, with both sides gathering evidence.
