New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Fating Rahul Haridas has been appointed as Private Secretary to Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The appointment has been cleared by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) following a proposal from the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

The officer will hold this responsibility in addition to his existing role as Private Secretary to the same minister in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, marking a rare dual-charge assignment at the Union level.

DoPT Clears Dual Responsibility Posting

According to the official order, the appointment will take effect from the date Haridas assumes charge and will continue up to 19 April 2031 or co-terminus with the minister’s tenure, whichever is earlier.

The approval was granted after a formal proposal was received from the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, reflecting administrative continuity across two key ministries handling rural governance and livestock development.

He has previously served in several field and secretariat roles including:

  • Collector and Additional Collector assignments
  • Chief Executive Officer (district-level administration)
  • Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)
  • Assistant Collector
  • Commissioner-level postings
  • Deputy Secretary-level roles in the state administration

As per his service profile, he currently serves in the Madhya Pradesh government as Director in the Health Services Department.

Academic and Professional Background

Mr Haridas has a diverse academic background, holding:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics
  • Medical qualification (MBBS)

He is fluent in multiple languages including Hindi, English, Marathi, and Urdu, which has supported his administrative roles across diverse regions.

Significance of the Appointment

Officials note that such arrangements help streamline policy execution and ensure better convergence between central schemes implemented at the ground level.
