New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has appointed Rupa Saikia as an Independent Director on its Board, strengthening the company’s board-level expertise in education, human resource management and community development.
The Maharatna public sector undertaking disclosed the appointment in a regulatory filing dated August 23, 2026, submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) and BSE Limited.
Rupa Saikia Brings 14+ Years of Education and HR Experience
Saikia holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree and has over 14 years of experience in education and human resource management.
She has also been actively involved in social service and community development initiatives. She has served as the Secretary of the Golaghat Zila Lekhika Samaroh in Assam, contributing to organisational and administrative activities.

With the appointment, GAIL has updated the composition of its Board of Directors.
The company confirmed that Saikia has no inter-se relationship with any of the existing directors of GAIL, supporting compliance with applicable corporate governance requirements.
Regulatory Compliance Confirmed by GAIL
GAIL stated that Saikia is not debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs or any other statutory authority.
The appointment was disclosed under the applicable provisions of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The regulatory filing was signed by Deepak Asija, Company Secretary, GAIL.
