Indian Masterminds Stories

Varanasi: GAIL (India) Limited has introduced a Free CNG Promotion Scheme in Varanasi, reinforcing its commitment to cleaner and greener transport. Launched on 27 August 2025, the initiative aims to encourage commercial vehicle owners to adopt Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), a cost-effective and environmentally friendly fuel.

Incentives for New Commercial Vehicles

Under the scheme, customers purchasing new commercial vehicles within the Varanasi City Gas Distribution (CGD) area will receive free CNG worth up to ₹25,000. Eligible vehicles include 3-wheeler loaders, 4-wheeler loaders, commercial buses, and trucks.

The scheme offers significant savings for vehicle owners while promoting wider adoption of sustainable fuel alternatives.

Benefits of CNG Adoption

CNG provides multiple advantages over conventional fuels. It reduces overall fuel costs, enhances engine efficiency, and requires lower maintenance. Most importantly, it produces cleaner emissions, helping reduce air pollution in urban areas like Varanasi.

By encouraging more commercial operators to switch, GAIL hopes to accelerate the shift toward green mobility in the holy city of Kashi.

Launch Ceremony in Varanasi

The initiative was officially launched by H. K. Garg, Executive Director (CGD), GAIL, in the presence of Sushil Kumar, GM (CGD) In-Charge, Varanasi, along with the GAIL team. At the event, the first two customers received free CNG coupons, marking the beginning of the promotional drive.

Towards a Greener Kashi

This scheme is part of GAIL’s larger vision of building an energy-efficient India powered by clean fuels. By promoting CNG adoption, the company continues to support national goals of sustainable transportation and reduced dependence on polluting fuels.
