On the basis of intelligence inputs from Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), one tiger skin and tiger bones were seized in a joint operation conducted by Uttrakhand Police and Forest Department at Khatima in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand on 22 July.
The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttrakhand Police and local authorities intercepted four wildlife smugglers at Khatima toll plaza, and seized an 11-ft-long tiger skin and approximately 15 kg of tiger bones. Forest officials say that this is the largest seized tiger skin so far in Uttarakhand.

The crackdown was part of an ongoing campaign initiated by the Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar, to reinforce law and order in the state. Acting on specific intelligence, SSP STF Ayush Aggarwal directed his teams to crack down on illegal wildlife trafficking.
