This combination could make New Delhi an important global meeting point for discussions on renewable energy, solar power and green hydrogen.
Prime Minister to Inaugurate Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026
Pralhad Joshi said the Prime Minister has agreed to inaugurate the BRE Summit & Expo 2026. According to the minister, the Prime Minister’s presence reflects India’s commitment to renewable energy as an important part of Viksit Bharat and global sustainable development.
The government expects the summit to help India build stronger partnerships with countries, companies and international organisations working in clean energy.
34 Countries Invited to Bharat Renewable Energy Summit
The government has invited 34 countries to participate in the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026. Meanwhile, the International Solar Alliance has invited 128 countries for its Assembly, according to the official announcement.
The international participation is expected to create opportunities for investment, technology sharing and cooperation in renewable energy.
Who Will Attend the Summit
The summit is expected to bring together people and organisations from across the renewable energy sector.
Participants will include renewable energy developers, technology companies, manufacturers, battery storage firms, green hydrogen companies, financial institutions, international organisations and investors.
Governments, researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators and development partners from different countries have also been invited. This wide participation is expected to help create new business and technology partnerships.
India Moving Towards 300 GW Non-Fossil Fuel Capacity
Pralhad Joshi said India is moving towards the major milestone of 300 GW of installed non-fossil fuel electricity capacity. India has rapidly expanded renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power as part of its clean-energy transition. The upcoming summit is expected to showcase this progress while also discussing what India needs to do next to increase renewable energy capacity.
PM Surya Ghar Scheme Expected to Cross 50 Lakh Households
The government also shared an update on the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Joshi said the rooftop solar scheme is expected to cross 50 lakh beneficiary households in the coming weeks. The scheme aims to increase rooftop solar installations at homes and help more families generate electricity using solar energy.
States Driving India’s Renewable Energy Growth
Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik highlighted the role of Indian states in the country’s renewable energy transition. Rajasthan is using its large solar energy potential, while Gujarat is developing the major hybrid renewable energy park at Khavda. Other states are also working on hydropower, floating solar, biomass and decentralised renewable energy projects.
These projects show how different states are using their local resources to support India’s clean-energy goals.
Green Hydrogen and Battery Storage to Be Key Focus Areas
MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi said India’s renewable energy transformation has been built on four major pillars: policy stability, market creation, ecosystem development and transmission infrastructure. The next stage will focus on strengthening the country’s renewable energy system through new technologies.
Important areas include battery energy storage systems, hybrid renewable projects, floating solar, agrivoltaics and green hydrogen under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Battery storage is especially important because it can help store renewable electricity and make it available when needed.
‘URJHA Chakra’ Logo Unveiled
During the curtain-raiser event, Pralhad Joshi also unveiled the official ‘URJHA Chakra’ logo of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026. The government also launched the summit’s official digital portal and mobile application.
