In a landmark move to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, the Chhattisgarh government signed a license agreement with Continental Hospital, Telangana, under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). The agreement was signed at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan in the presence of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai and Health Minister Mr. Shyam Bihari Jaiswal.
World-Class Facilities for Citizens of Chhattisgarh
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai said that the state government’s priority is to ensure world-class health facilities for every citizen, including those living in remote tribal areas. He emphasized that the establishment of a super specialty hospital in Bastar will be a milestone, especially benefiting soldiers stationed on the Naxal front who previously had to be shifted to Raipur by air ambulance for critical treatment.
“This hospital will prove to be a boon for the people of Bastar and will ensure timely access to high-level healthcare services,” the Chief Minister added.
Affordable Treatment in Bastar Super Specialty Hospital
Health Minister Mr. Shyam Bihari Jaiswal highlighted that earlier advanced medical services were confined to Raipur and Bilaspur, but the new hospital will provide these facilities in Bastar itself. He assured that the Health Department will extend all possible support to strengthen the sector further and ensure quality healthcare delivery at government-approved rates.
Project Cost and Infrastructure Details
According to the Health Secretary, the hospital has been built at a cost of Rs. 200 crore, with Rs. 120 crore contributed by the Central Government and Rs. 80 crore by the State Government. The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has also played a key role in the project’s development.
Spread across 11 acres, the 10-storey super specialty hospital will accommodate 240 beds and house departments like cardiology, nephrology, neurosurgery, urology, and gastroenterology. It will also be equipped with advanced OPD, ICU, and emergency care facilities, supported by a team of specialist doctors.
Lifesaving Healthcare for Bastar and Beyond
The hospital will cater not only to patients from Bastar but also to people from across Chhattisgarh and neighboring states, reducing their dependence on metropolitan hospitals. Officials and public representatives described the initiative as a historic milestone in the state’s healthcare journey, bringing advanced medical facilities to lakhs of people at affordable costs.
