Gujarat Gas Appoints Ashwini Kumar as Additional Director to Strengthen Board Leadership

Senior IAS officer and Principal Secretary of Energy & Petrochemicals Department joins GGL as Promoter-Nominee Director, effective January 27, 2026.

Mumbai: Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL), a GSPC Group company and Government of Gujarat undertaking, has appointed Mr. Ashwini Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary of the Energy & Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat, as an Additional Director on its Board, effective January 27, 2026, according to a SEBI filing. The appointment was approved by GGL’s Board of Directors and follows a formal nomination from the Government of Gujarat. Mr. Ashwini Kumar has been designated as a Promoter-Nominee Director.

Government Nominee Director Appointment

The nomination was communicated through a letter from the Government of Gujarat (EPCD/0454/01/2026), officially recommending Mr. Ashwini Kumar to join GGL’s Board. The company confirmed that the new appointee is not debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI or any other regulatory authority.

Profile of Mr. Ashwini Kumar, IAS

Mr. Ashwini Kumar is a senior Gujarat cadre IAS officer with over 29 years of experience in public administration. His career spans:

  • District-level administration and secretariat policy roles
  • Leadership positions in public sector undertakings and statutory bodies
  • Policy formulation, programme implementation, and infrastructure development
  • Institutional governance and public finance management

He currently serves as Principal Secretary to the Energy & Petrochemicals Department and has previously held key roles such as Principal Secretary to the Urban Development & Urban Housing Department, Principal Secretary for Sports, Art, Culture & Youth Affairs, and Secretary to the Chief Minister of Gujarat for over five years.

GGL clarified that none of the existing directors are related to Mr. Ashwini Kumar. The disclosure has been made to both BSE Limited (Scrip Code: 539336) and the National Stock Exchange of India (Symbol: GUJGASLTD) in line with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
