Gujarat Steps Up Action in Pending Disciplinary Cases
The latest orders follow the Gujarat government’s earlier decision this month to compulsorily retire two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, Kankipati Rajesh and Gaurav Dahiya.
Rajesh, a 2011-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, had been under suspension since July 2022 and was facing corruption and money-laundering investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Dahiya, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, was suspended in August 2019 following allegations of misconduct, moral turpitude, bigamy and cheating. He was reinstated in July 2023.
According to reports, the earlier retirement orders followed a review of the officers’ service records and action taken in line with directions from the Union government’s Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Government Focuses on Long-Pending Departmental Proceedings
The latest decisions come amid efforts by the Gujarat GAD to follow up with departments on disciplinary proceedings that have remained unresolved for long periods.
The reported action highlights the state’s scrutiny of service records and departmental cases involving government officers.
Further details from the official orders would be needed to establish the precise legal basis, effective dates and individual grounds for the retirement of Bhaglani and Tuvar.
