Surat: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced development projects worth Rs 7.50 crore for Surat city and district during the state-level Gujarat Gaurav Diwas 2026 celebration held at Dumas Sea Face. The event highlighted Gujarat’s development journey, cultural pride, and future growth vision.

The cultural programme titled “Gauravvanti Gujarat, Virasat thi Vikas” was organized under the chairmanship of Governor Acharya Devvrat. The event saw the presence of several dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and senior ministers from the state cabinet.
Prominent leaders such as Union Minister CR Patil, Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai, Agriculture Minister Jitu Vagahani, and several MPs and MLAs also attended the celebration.
Rs 7.50 Crore Allocated for Surat Development
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel allocated Rs 7.50 crore for development works in Surat city and rural areas.
- Rs 2.50 crore to Surat Municipal Corporation
- Rs 2.50 crore to District Collector for urban development
- Rs 2.50 crore to District Development Officer for rural development
This funding aims to boost infrastructure and local development projects across the region.
Gujarat’s Growth Journey Highlighted by Governor
Governor Acharya Devvrat praised Gujarat’s transformation, stating that the state has progressed from facing water shortages and basic infrastructure challenges to becoming a leading development model in India.
He credited visionary leadership and public participation for Gujarat’s success, highlighting advancements in industries, roads, and electricity over the years.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted Surat’s remarkable growth, noting its global recognition in:

He also mentioned Surat’s identity as the “City of Bridges” with 123 bridges, reflecting strong urban development.

The Chief Minister praised Surat’s efforts in sustainable development, including:
- 100% electric bus system
- Circular water economy model
- Clean city initiatives
He said Surat is playing a key role in achieving the vision of Viksit Gujarat and Viksit Bharat @ 2047.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi emphasized the importance of:
