Gujarat: On the occasion of the 66th Gujarat Gaurav Day, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel delivered a powerful message reflecting on Gujarat’s transformation from a newly formed state in 1960 to one of India’s most dynamic development models. Addressing citizens and the global Gujarati diaspora, he emphasized Gujarat’s economic progress, infrastructure growth, and its roadmap toward becoming a key contributor to India’s vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047.”
From Struggle to Success: Gujarat’s Historical Journey
Gujarat was formed on May 1, 1960, after being separated from the former Bombay State. At the time, the state faced limited resources and several developmental challenges.
The Chief Minister highlighted that inspiration from great leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Swami Dayanand Saraswati, and Shyamji Krishna Varma, along with the consistent efforts of its people, helped Gujarat rise steadily over the decades.
He noted that the last two decades, in particular, have dramatically reshaped the state’s development trajectory, turning Gujarat into a globally recognized growth model.
Gujarat Under Leadership: A “Growth Engine” of India
CM Bhupendra Patel credited the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming Gujarat into a “global gateway to the future.”
He emphasized initiatives like the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit, which have played a crucial role in attracting investment, boosting industrial growth, and generating employment opportunities.

These developments have positioned Gujarat as one of India’s most infrastructure-advanced states.
Surat Emerging as a Major Economic Hub
Looking ahead, the state government is focusing on regional development strategies. CM Patel announced the Surat Economic Region Development Plan, aimed at transforming Surat and its surrounding areas into a major economic hub.
Additionally, six new regional economic master plans are being prepared for North Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Central Gujarat to ensure balanced and inclusive growth across the state.

These initiatives aim to position Gujarat as a global hub for green energy and advanced technology industries.

He further thanked citizens for the strong performance of local bodies in recent elections, stating that the results reflect public trust in the government’s development-driven policies.
