Hyderabad: Artificial intelligence-based technology must remain the foremost priority in crime prevention and policing, particularly as the nature of crime continues to evolve rapidly, Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand, an IPS officer of 1991 batch, said on Saturday.
Addressing a meeting of senior police officials at the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC), Anand stressed the need for Telangana Police to remain at the forefront of technology-driven policing by ensuring effective implementation, regular updating and greater use of digital policing systems.
He said a combination of technology, data-based crime analysis, professional training and rational deployment of manpower would make the police force more efficient, responsive and better equipped to tackle emerging forms of crime.
AI to Become Key Tool in Crime Prevention
The DGP emphasised that policing must keep pace with the rapidly changing nature of crime and the increasing use of technology by criminals.
He called for greater adoption of artificial intelligence-based tools and available digital applications to strengthen crime prevention, investigation and policing.

Anand directed senior officers to continuously monitor digital policing systems and ensure that they are regularly updated and effectively utilised at the field level.
He stressed that merely having technology platforms would not be sufficient unless police personnel made effective use of the systems available to them.
Focus on CCTNS and ICJS Implementation
The DGP called for effective implementation of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS)and the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) across Telangana.
The meeting reviewed the state’s performance in technology-enabled policing and examined areas where further improvement was required.
Specific attention was given to the implementation of NCL, e-Sakshya, e-Forensic and ICJS integration, along with Telangana Police’s performance on various national portals.
Anand directed officers to identify gaps in implementation and take focused measures to improve the state’s performance.
Data-Based Crime Analysis to Strengthen Policing
The DGP said technology should be combined with systematic analysis of crime data to improve policing outcomes.
Data-based analysis can help police identify crime patterns, emerging threats and areas requiring greater attention, thereby enabling more effective deployment of resources.
He also stressed the importance of rational manpower deployment so that available personnel and resources are utilised efficiently according to policing requirements.
Court Case Management Gets Special Attention
Anand also directed police officers to give greater attention to court case management and ensure strict compliance with established procedures.
He emphasised that effective investigation must be accompanied by proper preparation and follow-up of cases before courts.
The DGP called for regular training of police personnel in investigation procedures, court processes and legal aspects of policing, making such training an integral part of police functioning.
Police Training to Focus on Emerging Challenges
Anand directed district and city training centres, police training colleges, battalions and the Police Academy to ensure that their training programmes remain effective and responsive to emerging policing challenges.
He said training programmes should evolve in line with changes in crime, technology, investigation techniques and legal procedures.
The objective, he said, should be to equip police personnel with the skills required to effectively handle increasingly technology-driven and complex criminal activity.
Senior Officers Attend Review Meeting
The meeting was attended by several senior police officers, including Mahesh Bhagwat, Sowmya Mishra, Abhilasha Bisht, Cyber Security Bureau Director Shikha Goel, Charu Sinha and EAGLE Force Director Sandeep Shandilya.
Police commissioners and district superintendents of police also participated in the meeting.
The discussions covered digital policing, crime parameters, technology-enabled investigations, training and the performance of different units and districts.
Hyderabad Tops Cluster-I in Crime Parameters
Later, DGP Anand felicitated police officers and personnel who performed exceptionally well in implementing crime parameters at the state level.
Hyderabad emerged as the top-performing unit in Cluster-I, while Ramagundam secured the top position in Cluster-II.
In Cluster-III, Nalgonda emerged as the best performer, while Suryapet topped Cluster-IV.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to the respective teams in recognition of their performance.
Telangana Police Pushes Towards Technology-Driven Policing
The DGP’s directions underline Telangana Police’s focus on integrating emerging technologies with conventional policing methods.
From AI-based crime prevention and data analysis to stronger CCTNS and ICJS implementation, the emphasis is on building a more connected and technology-driven policing ecosystem.
At the same time, Anand stressed that technology must be supported by trained personnel, effective investigation practices, proper court case management and efficient manpower deployment.
The approach is aimed at making Telangana Police more responsive to changing crime patterns while strengthening the overall quality of investigation and criminal justice delivery.
