Gandhinagar: A Varanasi-to-Vadnagar Seva Yatra marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service concluded in Vadnagar on Wednesday, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel calling on young people to carry forward the message of “We Will Do It” and contribute to the goal of a developed India by 2047.
The yatra, organised under the nationwide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, brought together around 500 bikers and young participants. They travelled through hundreds of villages and cities across 10 states, combining the journey with public-service activities and awareness campaigns.
Youth Asked to Take Forward the Viksit Bharat Vision
Addressing the concluding ceremony in Vadnagar, Patel said the youth have an important role in shaping India’s development journey.
He said Gujarat’s young people should carry the message of “We Will Do It” with determination and work towards achieving the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
“Gujarat’s youth power will lead the way with the resolute commitment of ‘We Will Do It’ to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat-2047,” Patel said.
The message places youth participation at the centre of the long-term development agenda, encouraging young citizens to contribute through social participation, public service and community-level initiatives.

Seva Yatra Travels Across 10 States
The Varanasi-to-Vadnagar Seva Yatra was not limited to a ceremonial journey. Participants travelled through hundreds of villages and cities across 10 states, carrying out several community-oriented activities along the route.
These included:
- Cleanliness drives
- Tree plantation activities
- De-addiction campaigns
- Public interactions and awareness programmes
The participation of bikers and young people was intended to connect the broader Seva Sankalp Abhiyan with grassroots-level public engagement.
By combining travel with social activities, the yatra sought to encourage citizens, particularly young people, to participate actively in community development.
Modi’s 25-Year Public Service Journey
Welcoming the bikers and Seva Yatris who arrived in Vadnagar, Patel recalled that Modi began his journey as Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001.
He said Modi has now completed 25 years of public service and good governance as Gujarat Chief Minister and Prime Minister.
According to Patel, Modi has viewed political authority as a means to serve citizens rather than simply as a position of power. He said the approach has focused on the welfare of the poor, middle class, farmers, women and youth while encouraging citizens to participate in the country’s development.
The Vadnagar event therefore linked Modi’s political journey with the broader Seva Sankalp campaign and its focus on public participation.
Gujarat’s Development Journey
Patel also highlighted Gujarat’s development trajectory while speaking about the Prime Minister’s association with the state.
He said Gujarat faced major challenges, including the earthquake, but these challenges were converted into opportunities for development. He also pointed to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit as an initiative that helped position Gujarat as a destination for investment and emerging opportunities.
Patel cited several major projects as examples of the development vision associated with Gujarat, including the Statue of Unity, Bullet Train project, GIFT City and the semiconductor hub.
These projects, he said, reflect the state’s transition towards infrastructure development, investment, technology and new economic opportunities.
From Poverty Reduction to Global Confidence
Patel also referred to claims that 25 crore people have moved out of poverty and said India has emerged among the world’s top-five economies.
He highlighted India’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including vaccine assistance, along with the country’s green-energy commitments under COP-21.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the abrogation of Article 370 and efforts towards greater self-reliance in space and defence as examples of India demonstrating its capabilities.
These developments, according to Patel, have contributed to a stronger perception of India’s capacity and potential on the global stage.
Seva Sankalp Abhiyan Links Development With Participation
The Seva Yatra was organised as part of the wider Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which has been marking Modi’s 25 years in public service through activities focused on public participation and social service.
The participation of 500 bikers gave the campaign a strong youth component. Instead of limiting the celebrations to public meetings, participants travelled through communities and conducted activities linked to cleanliness, environmental protection and social awareness.
For young participants, such activities also provided a direct avenue to engage with communities and contribute to local causes while carrying a larger national development message.
Vadnagar Becomes the Yatra’s Final Stop
The conclusion of the yatra in Vadnagar, Modi’s hometown, added significance to the event. After travelling from Varanasi and passing through multiple states, the participants reached the final destination carrying the message of public service and development.
The event was attended by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and state BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma.
Patel congratulated Modi on completing 25 years in public service and urged young citizens to take responsibility for India’s future.
The broader message from the Vadnagar event was that the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal will require sustained public participation alongside government-led development. By taking the “We Will Do It” message across villages and cities, the Seva Yatra sought to turn a national development vision into a call for citizens, particularly youth, to participate in building the India of the future.
