Gwalior TMZ Expansion
The Gwalior TMZ is being developed as an integrated industrial cluster for telecom and electronics manufacturing, research and development, and innovation. The first phase has about 170 acres identified across SADA and the Gwalior IT Park.
According to the DoT, investor applications for the proposed zone have already exceeded the land currently available, prompting plans to identify additional land for expansion. The zone is expected to bring together around 24–25 telecom manufacturing units.
The Centre and Madhya Pradesh government signed an MoU for the TMZ in July 2026. Under the arrangement, the Centre is providing ₹493 crore in funding support for Phase-I infrastructure, while the Madhya Pradesh government has provided approximately 170 acres of land along with investor incentives.
Focus on Telecom and Emerging Technologies
The Bengaluru discussions also covered telecom equipment, semiconductor technologies, product design, research and development and next-generation communication technologies.
The TMZ is envisaged to cover areas including mobile devices, optical fibre, telecom equipment and 5G/6G technologies, with common testing and certification facilities planned as part of the industrial ecosystem.
