Shimla: The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led Himachal Pradesh Government today issued a significant reshuffle in the police department, transferring four Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and 14 Himachal Pradesh Police Service (HPPS) officers, while cancelling the transfer orders of 10 HPPS officers. The move comes as part of ongoing administrative adjustments within the state police hierarchy.
HPPS Transfers Take Center Stage
Among the key changes in the HPPS cadre, several officers have been reassigned to new roles across the state:
- Sagar Chander (2008-batch HPPS), previously Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mandi, has been posted as ASP, 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn), Pandoh.
- Rajesh Kumar appointed as Commandant, Homeguard, 9th Battalion, Dharamsala.
- Bhopinder Singh Bragta posted as Commandant, Home Guards, State Headquarters, Shimla.
- Pramod Chauhan transferred as ASP (Leave Reserve), Police Headquarters, Shimla.
- Rattan Singh now ASP, Traffic Tourism and Railways, Shimla.
- Ajay Kumar designated DSP, 3rd IRBn, Pandoh.
- Chander Shekhar assigned as DSP (Traffic), Shimla.
- Rajeev Mehta posted as Subdivisional Police Officer (SDPO), Anni.
- Anil Kumar appointed Staff Officer, Office of Inspector General of Police, Northern Range, Dharamsala.
- Anil Thakur posted as DSP, 6th IRBn, Dhaulakuan.
- Naveen Jhalta transferred as SDPO, Darlaghat, Solan.
- Harnam Singh designated DSP, SV&ACB, Kinnaur.
- Sanjeev Kumar Gautam posted as DSP (HQ), Hamirpur.
10 HPPS Transfer Orders Cancelled
The state government has also cancelled the transfer orders of 10 officers, highlighting the importance of stability in certain key posts:

IPS Transfers
In the IPS cadre, four officers have been moved to new positions, reflecting promotions and strategic placements:
- Arvind Divijay Negi (2011-batch IPS), recently promoted to Deputy Inspector General (DIG), has been posted as DIG, Narcotics Control Bureau, CID, Shimla.
- Rohit Malpani (2012-batch IPS), previously Commandant, 1st HPAP, Junga, Shimla, is now Superintendent of Police (SP) Cybercrime, Shimla.
Karthikeyan Gokulachandran (2014-batch IPS), who was under transfer as Compulsory Waiting Officer at Police Headquarters, has been transferred as Commandant, 3rd IRBn, Pandoh, Mandi. He replaces Padam Chand (2015-batch IPS), who has been moved to Commandant, 1st HPAP, Junga.
These transfers reflect the state government’s continued effort to strengthen law enforcement leadership across key districts and departments.
