New Delhi: Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Mines, has successfully commissioned an 800 kWp solar power plant at its Khetri Copper Complex in Rajasthan as part of its ongoing Clean Energy Mission. The project marks a significant step toward reducing the company’s carbon footprint and promoting sustainable operations across its facilities.
Supporting India’s Net Zero Goals
The Ministry of Mines highlighted that the initiative aligns with India’s broader renewable energy and sustainability agenda. By commissioning the solar plant, HCL is contributing to the national efforts to achieve the Net Zero target by 2030. The Ministry emphasized that clean energy projects like these play a critical role in accelerating India’s transition toward a low-carbon economy while enhancing energy efficiency at public sector enterprises.
Enhancing Operational Sustainability
The newly commissioned solar power facility will provide a substantial portion of the energy requirement for the Khetri Copper Complex, reducing reliance on conventional power sources. This step not only lowers operational costs but also demonstrates HCL’s commitment to responsible mining practices, sustainable development, and environmental stewardship.
