New Delhi: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, received high-level recognition for its expanding maritime capabilities during the opening of the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF-2025) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth visited the HSL stall, set up under the Department of Defence Production (DDP) Pavilion, acknowledging the shipyard’s achievements in shipbuilding, ship repair, and defence technology innovations. The exhibition will continue from November 14 to 27.

The visit also included Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry; Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production); and Amit Satija, Joint Secretary (Defence Industries Promotion). Cmde Girideep Singh, IN (Retd.), Chairman & Managing Director of HSL, briefed the dignitaries on the shipyard’s contributions to enhancing India’s maritime self-reliance, including its expertise in submarine refits, advanced shipbuilding, and green-energy-based propulsion technologies.
Wide Range of Indigenous Platforms on Display
HSL is exhibiting an extensive array of indigenous platforms at IITF-2025, including:
- Fleet Support Ship (FSS)
- Diving Support Vessel (DSV)
- Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV)
- Drill Ship
- Bulk Carrier
The showcase reflects the shipyard’s engineering excellence across both defence and commercial segments. It also highlights HSL’s capability in executing complex refits, upgrades, and technology-driven vessel construction.
Modernisation and Greenfield Shipyard Plans
HSL’s ongoing modernisation initiatives include plans to establish a greenfield shipyard in Andhra Pradesh. The project aims to produce advanced vessels such as Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs), MR Tankers, and Landing Platform Docks (LPDs) in collaboration with global technology partners. These efforts align with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
