Hindustan Shipyard Limited Appoints Jasvinder Singh as Director (Strategic Projects) to Drive Key Defense Initiatives

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Jasvinder Singh for the post of Director (Strategic Projects) at Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence. The recommendation was made during the 108th PESB selection meeting of the year, held on November 11, 2025.

Experienced Naval Officer Selected

Jasvinder Singh, currently serving as Director (Strategic Project) at the Indian Navy, emerged as the preferred candidate from a competitive pool of 10 candidates interviewed by the PESB panel. Among the candidates, eight were officers from the Indian Navy, while one each belonged to the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Defence Production. Singh’s extensive experience in strategic project management and naval operations reportedly played a significant role in his selection.

PESB Selection Process

The PESB selection panel, known for its rigorous assessment of leadership, strategic planning, and project execution capabilities, conducted detailed interviews to evaluate all candidates. Singh’s selection underscores the government’s emphasis on appointing experienced professionals to lead critical defence sector projects, particularly those related to strategic naval initiatives.

Strategic Importance of the Role

As Director (Strategic Projects), Singh will be responsible for overseeing key defence manufacturing and shipbuilding projects at HSL, aligning them with the operational requirements of the Indian Navy and other maritime forces. His appointment is expected to strengthen HSL’s capabilities in executing complex projects, modernising infrastructure, and delivering high-quality maritime solutions.
