Ranchi: The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) is preparing to extend financial support for development projects in Jharkhand’s energy sector. A meeting was held in Ranchi to discuss the scope for increasing HUDCO’s business in the state’s power sector during the ongoing financial year.
Sanjay Kumar, Regional Head of HUDCO’s Ranchi Regional Office, met the Secretary of the Energy Department, the Chairman and Managing Director of JEDCL, and K. Srinivasan, Managing Director of JBVNL, at the Energy Department office.
HUDCO Discusses Expansion of Power Sector Financing
During the meeting, officials discussed various opportunities for HUDCO to provide financial assistance for power sector projects in Jharkhand.
The discussions focused on strengthening infrastructure and supporting ongoing and upcoming projects through suitable financial arrangements.
Key areas discussed included:
- Transmission infrastructure development
- Chaibasa-Jadugoda transmission lines
- Nagar Untari Grid Sub-Station
- Inter-State Transmission Projects
- Expansion of HUDCO’s business in Jharkhand’s power sector

Jharkhand Energy Department to Begin Financing Process
During the meeting, the Jharkhand Energy Secretary assured officials that the process for obtaining financial assistance from HUDCO would be initiated.
An officer has also been nominated to coordinate the process with HUDCO and facilitate further discussions related to the proposed financing.
The move is expected to support the implementation of power sector infrastructure projects and accelerate development activities in the state.
Focus on Transmission Infrastructure
Transmission infrastructure was among the key areas discussed during the meeting. The projects under discussion are aimed at strengthening Jharkhand’s power transmission network and improving the supporting infrastructure.
The proposed financial assistance from HUDCO could help facilitate projects related to transmission lines, grid infrastructure and inter-state power transmission.
