New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has approved the appointment of Ms. A. Muthamma, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2009 AGMUT cadre, as Chief Vigilance Officer of Madras Fertilizers Limited (MFL), Chennai.
The appointment has been made under the Department of Fertilizers, with the officer set to oversee vigilance-related responsibilities at the public sector enterprise.
The appointment is for an initial tenure of three years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ministry of Home Affairs Asked to Relieve the Officer
Following the approval, the Home Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs has been requested to relieve Ms. A. Muthamma immediately so that she can take up her new assignment at Madras Fertilizers Limited.
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has also been informed about the appointment.
These steps are part of the administrative process required to facilitate the officer’s transition to the new role.
A. Muthamma’s IAS Career and Administrative Experience
Ms. A. Muthamma is a 2009-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre who entered the civil services through direct recruitment following the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
According to the available service profile, she has held eight recorded postings across three locations during her career. Her previous responsibilities include positions such as Secretary and Deputy Commissioner in cadre-related assignments.
She has also served as Secretary to the Government of Puducherry, a position she assumed on July 9, 2022. Her longest recorded tenure in a single position was approximately four years and three months as Secretary to the Government of Puducherry.
Her administrative experience across different assignments is expected to support her transition to the vigilance leadership role at MFL.
Educational Qualifications and Training
Ms. A. Muthamma’s recorded educational qualifications include an MBBS degree in ophthalmology from Thanjavur Medical College, affiliated with Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Tamil Nadu.
