New Delhi: In a notable administrative development, IAS officer Amar Kushwaha (IAS:2012:TN) has been re-designated as Director in the Department of Fertilizers under the Central Staffing Scheme. Previously serving as Deputy Secretary in the same department, Kushwaha’s tenure as Director will continue for the balance period of the total admissible five-year tenure.

Official Notification and Tenure

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday, the competent authority approved the re-designation from Deputy Secretary to Director, effective from the date of assumption of charge of the re-designated post. Kushwaha had assumed charge as Deputy Secretary on 19 February 2025 and has been serving in the Department of Fertilizers under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

Previous Roles and Administrative Experience

Before his central deputation, Kushwaha served in the Tamil Nadu government, holding key positions including:

  • Joint Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department
  • District Collector & District Magistrate, Tirupathur (June 2021 – February 2023)
  • Director of Social Defence (early 2023)
  • Additional Director (General), Rural Development, Chennai
  • Project Director, Hill Area Development Programme (HADP), Ooty (2017–2019)
  • Sub-Collector, Sivakasi, Virudhunagar District (2014–2017)
  • Assistant Collector (Training), Tiruvallur (2013–2014)

These postings reflect his extensive experience in rural development, district administration, and welfare initiatives.

Educational Background and Early Life

Amar Kushwaha, a native of Siddharthnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Industrial Chemistry. His multidisciplinary education has complemented his administrative expertise, particularly in development and welfare-oriented roles.

Personal Life and Literary Contributions

Kushwaha’s wife, Shivalika Kushwaha, has been actively involved in public initiatives, including local health awareness campaigns during his postings. Beyond administrative duties, Amar Kushwaha is also an accomplished author. His published works in Hindi include:
