Jaipur: In a shocking case that has sent ripples through the administrative circles of Rajasthan, IAS officer Bharti Dixit, a 2014-batch officer of the Rajasthan cadre, has filed a police complaint against her husband and fellow IAS officer Ashish Modi, accusing him of fraudulent marriage, physical assault, illegal confinement, and surveillance through hidden cameras installed in her room.
The FIR was registered at the SMS Hospital Police Station in Jaipur based on IAS Dixit’s detailed complaint. Both officers belong to the Rajasthan cadre and hold significant administrative positions in the state.
The Allegations
According to the FIR, Dixit has alleged that Ashish Modi, who currently serves as the Director of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, married her under false pretenses and later subjected her to years of physical and mental harassment.
The complaint further accuses Modi of maintaining an extramarital relationship during his posting in Jaisalmer, and of using coercive tactics to force Dixit into signing a divorce.
Held Hostage and Threatened at Gunpoint
A particularly disturbing incident described in the FIR took place on October 15, when, according to Dixit, her husband and some of his associates forcibly confined her in a car for nearly 90 minutes.
During this period, she was allegedly threatened at gunpoint and pressured to agree to a divorce. Afterward, she was taken to a house and locked inside a room. The complaint states that the experience left her traumatized and fearful for her safety.
Spy Cameras and Digital Surveillance
Ms Dixit has also accused Ashish Modi of spying on her through hidden cameras allegedly installed in her private room.
She claims that her mobile phone was connected to other electronic devices, allowing her husband to monitor her conversations and movements. “He constantly asked me who I meet and where I go,” she reportedly told the police.
FIR Registered in Jaipur
Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered at the SMS Hospital Police Station, and the case is being investigated. Officials said that preliminary inquiries are underway, and statements from both sides will be recorded.
According to sources, Dixit has also sought police protection, citing a threat to her life and privacy.
