Vijayawada, AP: IAS officer G Surya Sai Praveenchand, a 2019-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, assumed charge as the Joint Managing Director (JMD) of AP Transco on Monday. The young bureaucrat, known for his dynamic administrative track record, has pledged to enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and national standing of Andhra Pradesh’s power transmission company.
Committed to 24×7 Reliable Power Supply
Speaking to the media after taking charge, Praveenchand emphasized that AP Transco plays a critical role in ensuring 24×7 quality power supply across Andhra Pradesh, aligning with the state government’s vision. He expressed his commitment to building upon the utility’s ongoing reforms and modern practices to ensure system reliability and efficiency.
“With collective effort, AP Transco will not only retain its leadership but strive to become the No. 1 power transmission utility in India,” he said.

Praveenchand extended his gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy, and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar for reposing faith in his leadership. He assured that he would work with full dedication to fulfill the state government’s energy sector goals.

A Promising Administrator with a Strong Technical Background
Surya Sai Praveenchand hails from Andhra Pradesh and is an alumnus of IIT Patna, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He secured All India Rank 64 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2018, joining the IAS at the age of 27.

- Under Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development
