Lavish Ceremony on the Chambal Riverfront
The wedding took place along the 6-kilometer-long Chambal Riverfront, one of India’s most visually captivating public development projects. Despite the grandeur of the location and the presence of many prominent personalities, the couple’s ceremony became especially notable for its simplicity and elegance.
A lively sangeet ceremony was held on November 29th, attended by Education Minister Mr. Madan Dilawar. The main wedding on November 30th saw Energy Minister Mr. Hiralal Nagar in attendance. With the riverfront illuminated under festive lights, photos and videos of the celebration quickly went viral on social media, further establishing the site as one of India’s top new tourism and wedding destinations.
Another IAS–IPS Couple Making Headlines
This celebrated union follows last year’s high-profile marriage of IAS Ms. Aparajita Singh and IPS Mr. Devendra Kumar, which gained massive attention when the couple departed in a helicopter. With emerging officers frequently in the spotlight for their achievements, such weddings reflect the shared aspirations and dedication that define India’s future administrative leadership.
An Extraordinary UPSC Coincidence
Adding a unique twist to their story, both Ms. Charu and Mr. Sujit Shankar secured identical total marks—991—in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, though in different years.
- Ms. Charu ranked AIR 76 in CSE 2021 with 831 marks in Mains and 160 in the Interview.
- Mr. Sujit achieved AIR 122 in CSE 2019 with 825 marks in Mains and 166 in the Interview.
The matching marks highlight their consistent academic excellence and determination, despite differing exam cycles and ranks.
