New Delhi: The Central Government has approved the inter-cadre transfers of two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers on the grounds of marriage to Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. Mudra Raheja (IAS:2025:Tripura) has been transferred to the Rajasthan cadre, while Anup Garg (IAS:2022:Kerala) has been shifted to the Jharkhand cadre.
The cadre transfers have been approved in accordance with the Centre’s policy that permits inter-cadre transfers of All India Service officers after marriage.
Mudra Raheja Transferred from Tripura to Rajasthan
Mudra Raheja (IAS:2025:Tripura) has been transferred from the Tripura cadre to the Rajasthan cadre following her marriage to IPS officer Siddharth Srivastava.
Born on January 17, 1998, Mudra Raheja hails from Delhi and holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree.
Her UPSC journey reflects remarkable perseverance:
- Cleared UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 with AIR 413, securing the Indian Police Service (IPS).
- Improved her performance in UPSC CSE 2024, securing AIR 252, which earned her selection to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
- Her optional subject in the Civil Services Examination was Sociology.
After being allotted the Tripura cadre, she briefly served as Assistant Collector in Khowai before the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) approved her transfer to Rajasthan.
Anup Garg Shifted from Kerala to Jharkhand
The Centre has also approved the transfer of Anup Garg (IAS:2022:Kerala) from the Kerala cadre to the Jharkhand cadre on account of his marriage to IPS officer Sakshi Jamuar.
Born on December 23, 1993, Anup Garg belongs to Rourkela, Odisha. He comes from a business family, with his father Sushil Garg.
He completed:
- Industrial Engineering and Management from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE), Bengaluru
- Master’s degree in Public Administration
UPSC Journey Marked by Perseverance
Anup Garg secured All India Rank (AIR) 269 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021.
His success came after an inspiring journey:
- Cleared the examination in his fifth attempt.
- Reached the Personality Test (Interview) stage four times before finally securing selection to the IAS.
Administrative Career
During his service in Kerala, Anup Garg held several important field assignments.
His career includes:
- Assistant Collector, Kannur
- Sub Collector, Idukki (from August 20, 2024)
- Sub Collector Grade-I, District Development Commissioner and Special Officer for the Idukki Packagesince April 2026
He has also been recognised for launching “With People,” a citizen-centric governance initiative aimed at improving public service delivery.
Marriage-Based Inter-Cadre Transfers
The cadre transfers of Mudra Raheja and Anup Garg have been approved under the Government of India’s policy that allows inter-cadre transfers of All India Service officers on marriage grounds, enabling spouses serving in different cadres to be posted together whenever administrative requirements permit.
