IAS officer Suman Chandra has assumed charge as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt of India. She assumed command of the post on Monday at the Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan in New Delhi. This information was shared by Chandra in a tweet.

The Central Government has accepted the appointment of Chandra (IAS) as DS of MNRE, the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) stated in its decision dated January 6th. With effect from the date she assumed responsibility for the role or until further orders, whichever occurs first, she has been appointed to a position under the Central Staffing Scheme for a term of four years.
Chandra is a 2010-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre. Prior to this, she was posted as Managing Director of Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited, a fully owned Govt of Maharashtra PSU, located at Parel, Mumbai. She has served in various important positions including Collector, Govt of Maharashtra.
