In a major reshuffling move ahead of the General Assembly Elections 2024, senior bureaucrats at Nabanna (Bengal’s state secretariat) have mandated the transfer of 2014 batch IAS officer Dhaval Jain from the designation of Howrah’s Municipal Commissioner to assume charge as the new Municipal Commissioner of Kolkata.
The former Kolkata Municipal Commissioner, Officer Binod Kumar, an IAS officer of 1996 batch, has been made the principal secretary of minority affairs and Madrasah education department with additional charge of principal secretary, department of correctional administration.
At the same time, 2002 batch IAS officer Avanindra Singh was mandated to relinquish the designation of principal secretary in the fisheries department and assume charge as the divisional commissioner of the Burdwan division.
The fisheries department shall henceforth be administered by the Additional chief secretary of the environment and consumer affairs department.
