Amidst a recent development, the government of India, via a directive issued by the Personnel Ministry, extended the service tenure of senior IFS officer Mr. Vinay Mohan Kwatra (1988 batch) as the Foreign Secretary of India. This is Officer Kwatra’s second tenure extension under the Modi government.
In November 2022, the government of India granted a 16-month extension to Office Kwatra to enable him to serve as the Foreign Secretary even after his superannuation (scheduled for December 2022). Mr. Kwatra shall continue to hold the coveted office till April 30th, 2024, which he assumed in May 2022, after succeeding Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
