Indian Council of Agriculture and Research-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (ICAR-IISWC), Dehradun is conducting a training program on “Soil and Water Conservation and Watershed Management” for IFS Probationers (54 RR) from April 10 till 21, 2023. The inaugural function of this training program was organized at Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) on April 10, 2023. The programme was presided by the Dr. J. S. Samra, Ex CEO, NRAA, New Delhi, Bharat Jyoti, Director, IGNFA, Dr M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-IISWC, . R. K. Bajpai, Additional Professor, IGNFA and Dr D. V. Singh, Head, HRD&SS Division. The brief about the training was shared by Dr D V Singh and Dr M. Madhu.
The inaugural address delivered by chief guest Dr J. S. Samra, Ex CEO, NRAA, New Delhi was on the “Concept of the community-based watershed and spring-shed management and its major components in latest watershed guidelines”. Dr Samra enlightened the IFS probationers and participants with various transformations happening in watershed management with changes in various scenarios over a period of time. He emphasized on the importance and adoption of the latest technologies in watershed management. He also discussed on clean energy to make world carbon neutral and importance of bio-energy.
Bharat Jyoti discussed about the importance of delivery mechanism for effective training and emphasize on proper delivery as it ensures knowledge transfer and retention for long-term success. The program concluded with formal vote of thank by Dr Sivabala S, Course Director 54RR, IGNFA.
The team of Dr Charan Singh, Head, Plant Science, Dr D. Mandal, Head, SSA, Dr S. Patra, Head, H&E, Dr Rajesh Kaushal, Principal Scientist, Dr Gopal Kumar, Principal Scientist, Dr Abimanyu Jhajhria, Scientist, were present from ICAR-IISWC during this inaugural function and facilitated the coordination.
