Independence Day 2026: CM Mohan Yadav to Honour 47 MP Police, Home Guard Personnel with Prestigious Medals 

Nine police personnel will receive Distinguished Service Medals, 33 will get Meritorious Service Medals, while two recipients will be honoured with the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will attend the Medal Investiture Ceremony at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal on August 15, 2026. He will honour police, Home Guard and Civil Defence personnel with various medals conferred by the President of India.

The Chief Minister will also present the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak to two recipients for their exceptional acts of courage and efforts to protect human life.

A total of 47 individuals will be honoured during the ceremony.

47 Personnel to Receive Medals

The 47 awardees include police officers and personnel, Home Guard and Civil Defence personnel, as well as recipients of the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak.

The awards include:

  • 9 President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service
  • 33 President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service
  • 3 President’s Medal for Meritorious Service for Home Guard and Civil Defence
  • 2 Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak

9 Police Personnel to Receive Distinguished Service Medal

Nine police officers and personnel have been selected for the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

The awardees are:

  1. Yogesh Deshmukh – Director General, Lokayukta, Madhya Pradesh
  2. Makarand Deoskar – Inspector General of Police, BSF, New Delhi
  3. Rakesh Gupta – Additional Director General of Police, Ujjain Zone
  4. Santosh Kumar Singh – Police Commissioner, Indore
  5. Mithilesh Kumar Shukla – Inspector General of Police, Sagar Zone
  6. Avdhesh Kumar Goswami – Deputy Inspector General of Police, Welfare & Accounts, Police Headquarters, Bhopal
  7. Shivkumar Patel – Inspector, Special Branch, Indore (Retired)
  8. Walter Henry Ekka – Head Constable, 25th Battalion, Visbal, Bhopal
  9. Devendra Kumar Kaushal – Head Constable (Arms), 7th Battalion, Bhopal

33 Police Officers and Personnel to Receive Meritorious Service Medal

A total of 33 police officers and personnel have been selected for the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

The selected personnel represent various ranks and units across Madhya Pradesh Police, including the Special Branch, Lokayukta, STF, EOW, ATS, Cyber Headquarters, RAPTC and battalions.

3 Home Guard and Civil Defence Personnel to Be Honoured

Three personnel from the Home Guard and Civil Defence Department will receive the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.

They are:

  • Santosh Kumar Shukla – Volunteer Lance Naik, District Shajapur
  • Sunil Kumar Jain – Volunteer CQMH, District Ujjain
  • Narendra Awasthi – Volunteer Lance Naik, District Indore

Two to Receive Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will also present the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak to two individuals for exceptional acts of courage and efforts to save human lives.

The recipients are:

  • Late Manohar Singh Chauhan, District Mandsaur – Posthumous
  • Rajendra Prasad Mishra, Acting Assistant Sub-Inspector, District Damoh

The two awardees have been selected in recognition of their extraordinary actions and courage in protecting human life.

Independence Day Ceremony to Honour Outstanding Service

The medal ceremony will be held on Independence Day, August 15, and will recognise the outstanding service, exemplary conduct and dedication of police, Home Guard and Civil Defence personnel.

By presenting the medals personally, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will honour the awardees for their contribution to public service and encourage them to continue upholding the highest standards of duty and commitment.
