New Delhi: The India–Africa Strategic Partnership Meet was successfully held on Day 3 of the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, bringing together ministers, ambassadors, senior government officials, and global energy leaders.
The session aimed to deepen collaboration between India and African nations, with a strong focus on power sector development, energy security, and infrastructure growth.

The session began with a welcome address by Jitendra Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited. Strategic insights were shared by the leadership of NTPC Limited and Africa50.
The event witnessed participation from:
- Union Minister of Power, Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India
- Chief Minister of Haryana
- Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy
African representation included ministers from Mauritius and Malawi, along with ambassadors, high commissioners, and senior officials.

The meet also saw active participation from leading international organizations such as:
- World Bank Group
- Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO)
- Africa Infrastructure Development Association (AfiDA)
These institutions contributed to discussions on financing, infrastructure development, and cross-border energy cooperation.
Focus on Power Sector Growth and Investment Opportunities
A comprehensive overview of the Indian power sector was presented by the Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority, followed by interactive discussions between African delegates and Indian government representatives.
Key focus areas included:
- Investment opportunities in power generation and transmission
- Joint ventures and public-private partnerships
- Capacity building and institutional strengthening
- Technology transfer and sustainable energy solutions
African representatives shared their national priorities and identified areas where collaboration with India could drive mutual growth.

The session, supported by Ernst & Young (EY) as Knowledge Partner and moderator, facilitated meaningful dialogue between stakeholders.
It enabled the exchange of ideas on scalable and sustainable energy solutions, while also fostering deeper engagement between Indian states and African nations.
