The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has recently relieved IPS Lakshay Sharma from his deputation in the Union Territory (UT) of J&K. An order states that IPS Sharma’s tenure has come to an end, and he is now repatriated to his parent cadre in Manipur.
Mr. Lakshay Sharma (2016-batch Manipur cadre IPS officer) was last posted as the SSP of Bandipora. The approval for his repatriation was granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Election Commission of India. Effective from September 22nd, 2024, IPS Sharma is to hand over charge to the senior-most police officer in his district until a new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) is appointed.
The Home Department’s order was signed by Principal Secretary Chandraker Bharti and circulated to key officials, including the Director General of Police, J&K, and the Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor. The Election Commission of India and the Ministry of Home Affairs were also notified of the development.
